Protesters did damage at the MTV office in Mumbai, India, after taking offense at an ad for the program “On the Job 2.” I can see why. For goodness sakes, Sikh women are modestly dressed and practice modesty. I think MTV should have used better judgement than to depict a Sikh woman giving a man a massage in its ad for “On the Job 2″. It should have known that ad for “On the Job 2″ would offend an entire community in India. 70 people were arrested in the protest. The 70 people arrested were later released. MTV’s legal counsel in Mumbai called the incident “unfortunate.” Unfortunate indeed.
Today President George W. and Laura Bush attended the wake for Tim Russert, the NBC newscaster who died suddenly of a heart attack last Friday. Thousands of people from all walks of life were at St. Alban’s School on the grounds of the National Cathedral. The closed-casket wake is still in process until 9 pm tonight in the school’s Cafritz Refectory. If you live in DC you still have time to pay respects to a man who touched the lives of many. Tim, you will be greatly missed.

Remember that controversial scene in In Singin’ in the Rain when Syd Charisse tried to tempt Gene Kelly in the ‘Broadway Melody Ballet’ segment? Sadly we learn today that Syd Charisse has died at age 86. That scene in ‘Singin’ in the Rain reminds me a lot of Dancing With the Stars. Syd Charisse would have won at Dancing with the Stars if she was still young in 2008. She will be greatly missed.
Prince William Knighted today and he was made the 1000th Knight of the Garter. His grandmother is Queen Elizabeth the second, and at St. George’s chapel in Windsor Castle she knighted Prince William. I wonder, is it good luck to be number 1000?
