Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones Dies

Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Ohio democratic congresswoman, has passed away from an aneurysm of the brain. She suffered the aneurysm yesterday afternoon as she was driving in Cleveland. Her car swerved and changed lanes and she was driving erratically. Her passing is a big loss for House Democrats. Not politically — the seat will stay Democratic — but emotionally. Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones is the first African-American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives from Ohio.

Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a five-term congresswoman, was the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress and was a strong critic of the Iraq war.

She will be remembered for her colorful and strong personality and determined spirit. She is survived by her son. Her husband passed away a few years ago.

Stephanie Tubbs Jones died in Cleveland hospital this evening after having suffered a brain hemorrhage Tuesday night.

Infant Found Dead in Cincinnati Christian University Dr. Jodie Edwards Van

I am in shock once again. It is deja vu for Cincinnati people. Dr. Jodie Edwards has apparently left their own child in their van in the parking lot of Cincinnati Christian University on a hot day, getting ready for the beginning of the school year. The school president identified the girl’s mother as Dr. Jodie Edwards, a second-year employee who teaches graduate-level classes in the counseling department. After last year’s horrible event where a Cincinnati toddler lost her life under similar conditions at a public school, there was much made about the need for a technological solution to this problem. I am so sorry Dr. Jodie Edwards did not have one of these child reminder alarms for her mini-van. There are several child alarm devices now on the market thanks to development of child reminder technology. The technology uses a child presence sensor developed by NASA six years ago. One popular version on the market today is called Child Minder. The devices are sensitive and can detect if an infant is still in the seat. An alarm will sound if the door is shut with the child in the seat, or if the driver moves more than twenty feet away from the vehicle. I cannot believe every family in the US with young children did not immediately buy one of the baby in car driver alert alarms that have come on the market recently.

My kids are older now but when they were younger this device was not on the market yet. If I were the parent of a young child now I would certainly have installed one of the baby car seat alarms in my car. Oh this is so sad. How can this keep happening? Early reports are that Dr. Jodie Edwards and her husband are both teachers at Cincinnati Christian University. The child was an 11-month girl. Oh how sad. How sorry I am for that family and for the whole Cincinnati Christian University community. What a tragedy.

I wonder if this tragedy could have been prevented by one of those baby in the car alarm alerts we saw come on the market recently.

Moon Illusion Tonight - don’t miss it!

Tonight is a special night, as the moon illusion will be occurring. This event two days prior to Summer Solstice is always fun to observe. Gather the whole family and get out the kids telescope for a fun and educational experience. The internet is full of theories on why this phenomenon occurs. I did learn that not everyone will experience it. But most of us will. It will appear as a giant pinkish sphere tonight. This is a trick in our minds that makes it seem bigger when it’s near the horizon. It is all an optical illusion. Although the moon will be large enough to see with the unaided eye, it might be fun for your children to pull out the kids telescope tonight. Everyone in the family will enjoy using a kids telescope tonight.

Michelle Obama was a co-host on The View this morning and it seems the whole country is talking about it. I can’t figure out what her motive was. Why in the heck did she align herself with Hillary Clinton’s statement that sexism was a factor in Barack Obama’s primary successes? It has me stumped. Can somone explain? She praised Hillary. Shouldn’t she be praising her husband? What is it with these women libbers these days? Sometimes they say things that will only hurt them later.

Kendal Sheppard blasts Josh Henderson for lack of child support

MTV Road Rules’ Kendal Sheppard has blasted her baby Asa’s father, Josh Henderson, for lack of child support. It is reported that Josh Henderson first admitted he was the father of Asa, born to Kendal Sheppard, but now Kendal Sheppard is telling us that Josh Henderson is changing his story on that. Could Josh Henderson be trying to dodge child support payments due to Kendal Sheppard? How dare he! Kendal Sheppard is apparently fed up with Josh Henderson, Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend, and his lack of interest in his son or making child support payments due Kendal Sheppard for the care of their son Asa.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to child support payments. Most guys are lawyers, and guys stick up for guys, so this is a hard thing to get changed. There has been some progress made for women’s rights in the area of child support payments, but it is still possible to be a deadbeat dad. This is inexcusable for our society. And it seems that Hollywood stars such as Josh Henderson, who have plenty of money for child support payments, should be held accountable. Kendal Sheppard deserves those child support payments regardless of how much money she has. It doesn’t matter who has more money, Kendal Sheppard or Josh Henderson. Those child support payments are due her, the child support payments are rightfully hers.

How many dead-beat dads will it take before things change? How many fed up mothers like Kendal Sheppard must come forward before things change? Think of the children. It is getting more and more expensive to care for a child. Every year the costs are rising. Child support payments are essential for these children, especially in the case where the mom is a singel parent. C’mon Congress, let’s take this issue head on and make a system that really works, one that benefits the children.

Oh wait, what was I thinking? How many senators and representatives are men? How many are women? Darn, it is an uphill battle. But the children need to win. The mothers all deserve the child support payments.

America’s Got Talent is a TV show similar to American Idol. In America’s Got Talent, viewers vote for their favorites and people are eliminated each week. The judges also have stupid lines to say and are bad actors. America’s Got Talent is not just singing and that is what makes it different than Idol. You can also see magicians,comedians, dancers, and other talented performers. The host is the famous and disgusting Jerry Springer. That fact alone will keep me from ever turning on the TV on Tuesday nights at 9.
