Tonight is a special night, as the moon illusion will be occurring. This event two days prior to Summer Solstice is always fun to observe. Gather the whole family and get out the kids telescope for a fun and educational experience. The internet is full of theories on why this phenomenon occurs. I did learn that not everyone will experience it. But most of us will. It will appear as a giant pinkish sphere tonight. This is a trick in our minds that makes it seem bigger when it’s near the horizon. It is all an optical illusion. Although the moon will be large enough to see with the unaided eye, it might be fun for your children to pull out the kids telescope tonight. Everyone in the family will enjoy using a kids telescope tonight.
